Haere mai and welcome! Ma te huruhuru, ka rere te manu

Our school vision, Ma te huruhuru ka rere te manu / Adorn the bird with feathers so that it can fly, guides us all in the responsibility we collectively share as a learning community for our tamariki/children.

We aspire to create a learning culture and environment that supports our children to fly in their lives and their learning. This is achieved through high levels of collaboration, a focus on using evidence to inform our decisions, and through explicit development of a positive school culture.

We work hard to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of our children for both learning and behaviour. We focus on the strategic development of our Welcome Bay Learner acknowledging these attributes:

Show courage
Kia kaha

Ask questions
Tuku patai

Have a heart
Kia manawanui

Seek adventure
Whaia te pai tawhiti

Stand Proud
Kia maia

We strive to be an inclusive community and warmly welcome parents and whānau to share the ‘learning journey’ with teachers and students. developing a strong sense of whānau, community, and belonging is at the centre of our focus on growing partnership. We believe that it’s essential that we all work together to help the children in the school community fly in their lives and learning.

The school is well governed by a united and supportive Board of Trustees who represent our diverse community. Our school is future focussed and is experiencing significant growth, which is an exciting time in the life of our school reflecting years of hard work and focus.

You are encouraged to come in and visit our school and talk with your child’s teachers about their learning and life at school. Please ring and make an appointment to meet with me if you would like a look around the school. We always enjoy an opportunity to share our great school whenever we can.
